World Shorebirds Day is celebrated annually on September 6th, and this year folks in the greater Ensenada area are invited to celebrate with Mujeres en Parvada at the Punta Banda Estuary!
World Shorebirds Day is dedicated to raising awareness about shorebirds, their habitats, and the importance of conservation efforts. The day also often includes the Global Shorebird Count, where people around the world participate in counting shorebirds to gather data and monitor their populations.
Both novice and experienced birdwatchers will enjoy this outing, and it’s a great way to learn how to identify the many shorebird species in the estuary. Mujeres en Parvada has extra binoculars that can be provided, particularly for those who register for the event ahead of time at this link: The event is free.
The event starts at 8:00 am at the Estero Dam of the estuary (see map below). We look for to seeing you there to help celebrate the shorebirds of the estuary.
