Second Workshop on Voices of the Punta Banda Estuary

Laura provided a summary from Workshop #1 when the group shared stories on past environmental changes around the estuary and identified environmental issues.

Laura’s presentation was followed by a fun team building exercise in which each group was given sticks of raw spaghetti and strings to see who could build the highest structure that could hold a marshmallow on top for at least least 15 seconds. There was a clear winner.

After the team building exercise, each group worked together to come up with ideas for addressing environmental threats at and around the estuary.

All the happy participants

The workshop began with Laura presenting the results of her research on sea level rise

On January 10, Laura Ibarra held a second Voices of the Punta Banda Estuary workshop at the Pabloff Salon (click here for information on the purpose of this workshop). The event was attended by Mexicans and Ex-Pats, all bringing enthusiasm and a cooperative spirit to the group and working together to find solutions for the environmental health of Punta Banda’s future. Laura’s final results from the two workshops will be a component of her doctoral thesis at UABC.

Laura is planning to give a presentation to the local community once she has processed the data from the two workshops.

Then each group shared their results.

We are all looking forward to Laura’s final results from both workshops which were held as a component of her doctoral thesis at UABC. Stay tuned!
