Tracking Marine Mammal Mortality in Bahia Todos Santos

Science for the People is tracking marine mammal deaths and strandings along the beach of Lengüetta Arenosa. These deaths are being documented via INaturalist with one or more photos and the GPS coordinates of the corpse or stranding. Photos are accompanied by a general classification of the type of mammal (e.g. pinnipeds or cetaceans.) All documentation includes the date and GPS coordinates of the end and start points of the linear route taken by the recorder. The absence of corpses are documented with a photo of the end point of the route taken by the recorder. This information will help determine the cause and distribution of marine mammal mortality along the beach of Lengüetta Arenosa.
