World Shorebirds Day is a global initiative dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness of shorebirds and their habitat worldwide. From 1–7 September, birdwatchers will count shorebirds around the world. As of 2026, 40 years worth of data will have been collected from World Shorebirds Day.

Join Mujeres en Parvada on the morning of September 5 to participate in this global effort at a local level, focusing on Punta Banda Estuary and the adjacent beach on Lengueta Arenosa. This is a great way to learn how to identify shorebird species from expert birders.
