I-Naturalist Challenge

I-Naturalist Challenge! The Punta Banda Conservation Alliance is going to host a local event in Punta Banda on April 25, to explore and record the variety of life forms found in a beautiful local natural area, the UMA of Ejido Colonel Esteban Cantu!

An UMA is a legally registered wildlife management area dedicated to the conservation, management, and sustainable use of wildlife and their habitats. Many will be surprised to learn that the Ejido Colonel Estaban Cantu has set aside thousands of acres as an UMA!

We’ll be gathering at 9 am in front of Mariscos La India Bonita at kilometer 8.

We’ll be taking part in the largest community science biodiversity census in the world while helping scientists better understand local biodiversity. This is a global event that will take place from April 25 to April 27, and we’re excited to contribute to this significant worldwide event.

Participants will download I-Naturalist onto their phones and be given instructions on how to use it, for those unfamiliar with the app. Then participants will walk along a designated path and document plants and animals along the way, using I-Naturalist to identify and record the species.

And if you don’t have a good vehicle for rough roads, John Kinabrew can help with transport (johnkinabrew4@yahoo.com)
